Emily Scales Sutton, Executive Director
Rev. Emily Scales Sutton is a graduate of Wofford College and The Divinity School at Duke University, and an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. Emily moved to Rock Hill in 2012 when she was appointed to Bethel United Methodist Church in Rock Hill and Philadelphia United Methodist Church in York. In July 2021 Emily was named the Executive Director of Bethel Shelters in addition to continuing her responsibilities as pastor at Bethel UMC.
Richard Murr, Operations Director
Richard Murr is the owner and operator of Industrial Service & Solutions, a company specializing in industrial laundry and recycling. Richard is a member of Bethel UMC where he serves on the Leadership Board. Richard began volunteering at Bethel in 2017 and is now the Operations Director, overseeing the daily operations of both the day shelter and men’s night shelter, their properties and security.
Alicia Cohen, Case Manager
Alicia graduated from the University of South Carolina in Aiken with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and furthered her education by earning a Master of Science degree in Human Service with a concentration in Community Counseling Psychology from Springfield College. She will also graduate in May 2022 with a Masters in Social Work. Alicia has been the Case Manager at Bethel’s night shelter for 2 years where she guides homeless men to self-sufficiency through action planning, referrals, and completion of various applications.
Brooke Leaverette, Case Manager
Brooke graduated from Winthrop University in Rock Hill with a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work degree. Brooke works as the Workforce Development Case Manager at the Day Shelter. Brooke helps people experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness with case management centered around workforce development. Brooke assists clients with addressing their goals through case planning, referrals, assessments, and empowerment.
Alex Ruffalo, Accounting and Office Admin
Alex Ruffalo holds a Bachelor of Business from The University of South Carolina Upstate. Alex joined the shelter not long ago and now oversees the administrative work of the office as well as the financials.
